St Catharines volleyball star signs pro contract with Austrian team

Brock University graduate and Badgers volleyball star Peter Schnabel has signed a pro contract with Austria’s Raiffeisen Waldviertel team.

The Psychology graduate came to the St Catharines campus as a 6-foot-6 international student-athlete from Merzhausen, Germany.

The signing is all the more impressive since the university had shut down all of its sports programs in 2020-21 due to COVID-19, meaning Schnabel hasn’t been on the court in more than a year.

While his parents, still in Germany, never saw their son play at a collegiate level, Schnabel is hoping they’ll be able to see him play now when he settles in with the Austrian team.
