Brock University in St Catharines recently brought aboard their new men’s lacrosse coach, a man bringing over 20 years experience with a number of Indigenous teams.

The new coach, Vince Longboat, was the head coach of Six Nations Lacrosse in Oshweken, Ontario, an assistant coach with Iroquois Nationals Lacrosse and general manager and assistant coach of the Six Nations Snipers men’s lacrosse club.

Longboat is also a three-time Ontario champion as a head coach and won a provincial title as an assistant coach.

Brock’s Director of Sports Melissa Krist was thrilled with the selection of Longboat as the Badgers’ new coach.

“He has worked tirelessly in the lacrosse community and brings a very strong track record as a player and coach,” she told the campus paper, The Brock News.

“Vince cultivates character, leadership and sportsmanship, and we look forward to the positive influence he’ll have on the growth of our student-athletes,” she continued.

The Badgers are preparing to compete in the upcoming Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) 2021 regular season. Brock will compete in the West Division along with Western, Guelph, McMaster and Wilfrid Laurier.
