Home-owners in St Catharines are being warned about a potential scam in their neighbourhoods.

A city release issued today says, “We have received a report that one of our Flood Alleviation Program participants was contacted by an individual claiming to work for the City concerning an inspection of their sanitary system and backwater valve.”

“We do not conduct such inspections and neither do our contractors under the FLAP program. Such calls should not be trusted. Any individual suspecting fraud should contact police.”

Suspected scams and frauds can be reported to police by calling 905-688-4111.
