St. Catharines ranks 28th on national rent increase report

June rents for one bedroom apartments in St. Catharines actually dropped a little from May of this year.

According to a report from the website Rental.ca, June 2022 rents for both one and two-bedroom apartments in St. Catharines actually dropped a little from the previous month.

The report said one-bedroom apartments, which averaged $1,421/month, were down 2.07 per cent from May and down another 2.34 per cent from June 2021.

However, the news was less positive for two-bedroom units, averaging $1,895/month, as they saw only a 0.21 per cent decline from May. In fact, compared to June 2021, two-bedroom apartment actually climbed 11.27 per cent.

The Top-Five highest June rents in the country were the usual suspects. Vancouver was number one, followed by Toronto, Richmond, BC, Oakville and Burnaby, BC.

June rents for one bedrooms in those five communities ranged from a high of $2,412/month down to $2.049/month. Two bedrooms were ultra-pricy for those cities, topping off at $3,597/month in Vancouver down to $2,467/month in Oakville.

The average rent for all Canadian properties listed on Rentals.ca was $1,885 per month in June 2022, down $3 from May 2022 or down 0.2% month over month.

The website says the data includes single-detached homes, semi-detached homes, townhouses, condominium apartments, rental apartments and basement apartments.
