UPDATE: St. Catharines power outage affects over 1,000 homes and businesses

More than 1,000 businesses and homes in St. Catharines were affected by a power outage on Wednesday (Aug. 4).
Alectra Utilities says the outage stretches south along the Ontario Street area, from the shores of Lake Ontario to Linwell Road. Some customers in the Port Dalhousie area area also affected.
The expected time of resumption is 10 p.m.
UPDATE: Power was reported fully restored at 9:47 p.m.

During a power outage, drivers are to treat any intersections where the lights are out like a four-way stop.
