St. Catharines pair charged with alleged human trafficking

A St. Catharines man and woman have been charged following allegations that they were trafficking an adult woman for sexual purposes.

Niagara Police have been investigating the situation this month, relying on the help of the Halton Police Service Human Trafficking Unit, and yesterday (Sept. 21) laid charges against the St. Catharines pair.

Kendra Karen Candler, 22, and Lavelle Taitt were both arrested and charged with trafficking in persons, material benefit from sexual services, material benefit from trafficking in persons, procuring, and advertising another person’s sexual services.

The two are in custody, waiting for a bail hearing today (Sept. 22) via a video link to the courthouse in St. Catharines.
