Just one day after St Catharines MP-Liberal candidate Chris Bittle had graffiti spray-painted on his car, it has happened again – this time to St Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik.

Despite the fact that he is not running in any campaign and municipal politics is, by nature, non-partisan, Sendzik woke up this morning (September 14) to walk his dog and instantly saw his house, two family cars and fence had been vandalized.

The f-bomb was painted by the panels of his houses, as well as ‘communist’ and ‘commie’ being spray-painted on his fence and front door.

Sendzik said in a morning radio interview that the front of his house and both his cars had been “destroyed.”

Ironically, last night at St Catharines City Council – just hours before he was targeted – Sendzik spoke to the vandalism on Bittle’s car, saying, “”There’s nothing respectful about this. Nothing. You hide behind swear words, you hide behind spray paint, but what is this going to do to further the discussion? Nothing.”

He added that he had worked on political campaigns before and this level of behaviour is a newer phenomena. “There’s people who purport to represent certain groups that are inflaming this and I’ve been doing this for six years.

“Prior to this I was involved in politics working with different people and no one had to experience this. This is the first time that I’ve seen this kind of behaviour of this nature. It’s concerning.”
