Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Sexual Assault unit have been investigating allegations of sexual assault in both St Catharines and Niagara Falls since 2018.

Yesterday (July 15), after a thorough investigation, they finally made an arrest.

Police said their investigations “has identified two female victims who were allegedly sexually assaulted in separate incidents in 2018 and 2020.”

Khalid Ali, 21, of St. Catharines is facing the charges of three counts of sexual assault.

Ali was held in custody prior to a bail hearing today (July 16) via video at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

However, through their investigation, police say detectives have reason to believe that there may be additional victims.

None of the charges have been proven in court.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (905) 688-4111 ext. 1009450 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
