St. Catharines man charged allegedly holding over $66,000 in suspected drugs

After a St. Catharines man with an outstanding arrest warrant was spotted by Niagara Police on March 31, his evening took a turn for the worse.

Police were on patrol when they spotted him at 11 pm in the Byron Place and Shakespeare Avenue area of the city and arrested him instantly.

Searching him, the police found 128.4 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, 259.4 grams of suspected fentanyl, and 216 suspected methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) pills.

The combined estimated value of all seized drugs is $66,880.

Piotr Stefan Zawadzki, 35, of St. Catharines has been charged with three separate counts of illegal drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a release order.

He was given a bail hearing via video link to the John Sopinka Courthouse in Hamilton and has since been held in custody.
