St. Catharines man charged following early morning stabbing: Niagara Police

Niagara Regional Police are investigating after a 55-year-old man was stabbed early Tuesday morning (April 12) in St. Catharines.

According to police, officers were called to the area of Ferndale Avenue and Dunvegan Road just after midnight to reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to a local hospital by Niagara paramedics before being airlifted to an out-of-region trauma centre.

The man, police said, is now in stable condition.

Police have arrested 28-year-old Bryan Schneider of St. Catharines in connection to the investigation. He is facing an aggravated assault charge. Schneider will appear at a bail hearing on Tuesday via video link in a St. Catharines courthouse.

Detectives say they believe the incident to have been targeted.
