St. Catharines man charged after allegedly exposing himself to a child

Niagara Police have charged a St. Catharines man after a January report of a child being sexually assaulted at a plaza.

The incident allegedly happened last month at a plaza in the Hartzel Rd. and Rockwood Ave. area of St. Catharines.

After a lengthy investigation, police charged Abdulmagid Omar Masoud, 33, of St. Catharines yesterday (Feb. 2). He was charged with sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age and exposure of genitals to a person under 16 years of age for a sexual purpose.

Police believe this is an isolated incident between the adolescent youth and the suspect.

He is being held for a bail hearing today (Feb. 3) via video link to the courthouse in St. Catharines.
