A Niagara Health intensivist and obesity specialist working out of St. Catharines hospital is a finalist in this year’s Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Awards.

Dr. Jennifer Tsang is one of five contenders in the Health Care Hero category, which recognizes women who have made an outstanding contribution to the physical or mental health of people in Niagara through her work and/or volunteerism in the healthcare sector.

In addition to her other roles, Tsang is a research lead and has been instrumental in fostering the growth of research at Niagara Health.

During the pandemic, Tsang was part of the Niagara Health team leading COVID research studies and creating opportunities for Niagara patients to participate in clinical trials for medical treatment related to the virus.

Tsang has published more than 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and holds multiple research grants. Her academic work focuses on the engagement of community hospitals in clinical research.

The winners will be announced on November 18 at a ceremony at Club Italia in Niagara Falls.
