St. Catharines area reports 32% COVID-19 positivity rate

One St. Catharines neighbourhood is in the province’s top 50 for highest COVID-19 positivity this week.
Toronto-based research group ICES listed the top 50 postal codes in Ontario with high COVID-19 positivity for the week of Jan. 16 to 22.
One is in St. Catharines: Postal code L2P, which is reporting 32.56% positivity.
L2P is the postal code with the 12th highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario.
ICES also says case counts reported since December 31, 2021 represent an underestimate of the true number of individuals with COVID-19, due to changes in eligibility for SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing.
For the week of Jan. 16 to 22, Niagara Region had the 10th highest COVID-19 positivity out of Ontario’s 34 public health units (PHUs), reporting 21.18% positivity.
The province overall is listed 18th at 18.41% positivity.
