Spotify scam targeting some residents in Mississauga and Brampton

Residents in Mississauga and Brampton may want to watch out for a text scam related to the popular music service Spotify.

A local resident reports getting a text asking them to update their Spotify information at a provided link (despite not even using Spotify).

The text looks like this:

The link is fake and shouldn’t be clicked, as it could be used to steal valuable data or information.

According to Spotify’s website, they will never send you an email (or presumably a text message) asking for personal information such as your payment info, password, social security or tax identification number, or request payments via a third party such as Western Union.
