Rushing to get to the airport has led to charges for a driver clocked going more than 100 km/h over the speed limit in Brampton and the impound of a friend’s borrowed vehicle.

Peel Regional Police said on Sunday that the traffic stop happened when officers clocked a speeder on Mississauga Road near Bovaird Drive in Brampton.

Police say the 22-year-old male driver was on the way to Pearson International Airport in Mississauga in a friend’s car.

The driver was caught driving at 177 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, police said.

Police say the 22-year-old man was charged and his licence was suspended for 30 days while the friend’s car was impounded for 14 days.

The traffic stop has police reminding drivers to take extra time on the roads and drive safely as winter weather will impact traffic.

“Please drive carefully in these road conditions. This shouldn’t be happening,” police said in a post on social media.
