The Town of Milton has implemented a 40 km/h speed limit pilot in the Willmott neighbourhood.

In an effort to improve road safety in Milton, the Town has implemented a one-year speed pilot in the neighbourhood, which is bordered by Derry Rd., Louis St. Laurent Ave., Regional Road 25 and Bronte St. South.

“Traffic is calm when we move calmly,” said the Town of Milton on Twitter about the speed limit pilot.

Unless otherwise posted, speed limits are 40 km/h in front of primary and junior schools when signs are flashing, 50 km/h in urban areas and 70 km/h in rural areas.

The Town works with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) to promote safe driving practices and conducts a spot speed study in areas identified as concerns. They then process the data which is collected into a speed profile and give the results to HRPS for their information and enforcement.

The Town also continuously reviews speed limit policies when roads and communities are being built and lived in.
