In an effort to improve road safety in Milton, the Town will be implementing a one-year pilot program on Leger Way in front of Viola Desmond school to reduce the speed limit from 40 km/h to 30 km/h when flashing.

Back in January, Milton Council passed resolutions asking staff to report back on the possibility of using automated speed-enforcement cameras, appropriate speed limits and traffic calming tools and other available safety measures in response to road safety concerns raised by residents.

In addition to this pilot program, the Town is also implementing a one-year speed pilot in the Willmott neighbourhood, which is bordered by Derry Rd., Louis St. Laurent Ave., Regional Road 25 and Bronte St. South.

Unless otherwise posted, speed limits are 40 km/h in front of primary and junior schools when signs are flashing, 50 km/h in urban areas and 70 km/h in rural areas.
