Specialty bake shop adds flavour to new Mississauga neighbourhood

And just like that…Mississauga’s newest neighbourhood has sprung to life!

While the housing aspect of Brightwater continues to take shape, when the residents arrive they will find plenty of shopping opportunities waiting for them.

Last month Farm Boy opened its grocery store at the west Port Credit location of Lakeshore Road and Mississauga Road and now COBS Bread Bakery has opened its doors.

Noted for fresh bread with a variety of flavours and other baked goods and treats, the 215 Lakeshore Road West location is the sixth COBS franchise to appear in Mississauga with several more located nearby in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Toronto.

Popular loaf favourites include cinnamon, cheese and ham, cranberry sourdough, sunflower and flax, plus a variety of ryes.

At COBS, you can also find scones, Danish, croissants, muffins and tarts.

And, if you want to jazz up your barbeque, they have fancy hamburger and hotdog buns.

Along with Farm Boy and COBS, Pop On Nails, D Spot Dessert Cafe, and the LCBO are slated to open soon at Brightwater.

Construction of Brightwater began in 2021 and when complete will contain 3,000 new homes. A new elementary school may also be part of the plan.

Officials say the community will contain 18 acres of greenspace with plans for a 13-acre waterfront park with a connection to Ben Machree Parkette to the west and J.C. Saddington Park to the east.

A trail system and pedestrian-friendly mews and promenades will also potentially be part of the large greenspace. 

Finally, to go with the stores already open, eventually, Brightwater will feature 300,000 sq. ft. of commercial, restaurant, retail, and office space.
