Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Halton and Peel Regions on Thursday (July 8) as rain and thunderstorms are expected to bring upwards of 55 mm of the wet stuff in some areas.

According to the weather agency, residents in Burlington, Oakville, Caledon, Halton Hills, Milton, Mississauga and Brampton could see rainfall amounts between 30 to 50 mm. Isolated amounts exceeding 50 mm may also be possible in some locations.

“Thus, Rainfall Warnings may be required for portions of the area,” the statement said.

Residents of Halton or Peel looking for more localized information concerning flooding, are urged to consult the local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry District office.
