Travellers who use the Lakeshore West GO train line are in store for some changes in the coming days.
On May 24 and 25, GO trains will run every 30 minutes between Union Station and Oakville GO as work continues on the line that will ultimately lead to more frequent service.
During this period, Niagara trains will run on an adjusted schedule between Niagara Falls and Aldershot GO.
GO buses will replace trains between West Harbour and Oakville GO stations.
There will be no GO Transit service at Appleby or Bronte GO station.
On Friday, May 23, there will be some late-night service adjustments, and a special westbound train will be added to get passengers home from events near Exhibition GO.
On Saturday, May 24, extra train service will be added to get passengers home from the TFC game or concert near Exhibition GO.
Here’s what you need to know:
On Friday, May 23, the following westbound trains departing Union Station will end at Oakville GO:
- 11:17 p.m. train will arrive at Oakville GO at 12:02 a.m.
- 11:47 p.m. train will arrive at Oakville GO at 12:32 a.m.
- 12:17 a.m. train will arrive at Oakville GO at 1:02 a.m.
- 12:47 a.m. train will arrive at Oakville GO at 1:32 a.m.
To continue westbound, connect to a replacement GO bus at Oakville GO:
- 18N making all stops between Oakville and West Harbour GO
- 18P stopping at Burlington and Aldershot GO
Expect to arrive at your destination between 20 and 40 minutes later than usual.
If you usually connect to the 1:39 a.m. Route 18 westbound bus at Aldershot GO, connect to the 12:45 a.m. 18N GO bus at Oakville with service to Hamilton to arrive at Hamilton GO six minutes earlier than usual. Or connect to the 1:15 a.m. 18N GO Bus at Oakville to arrive at Hamilton GO 24 minutes later than usual.
On Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25, trains will run between Union Station and Oakville GO.
The following replacement GO buses will be in service:
- 18K will run between Oakville, Burlington, Aldershot, Hamilton and West Harbour GO.
- 18P will run between Oakville, Burlington and Aldershot GO.
- 18Y will run between Oakville and Burlington GO.
- 18Z will run between Oakville and Aldershot GO.
Niagara trains will run on an adjusted schedule between Niagara Falls and Aldershot GO.
There will be no service at Appleby and Bronte GO stations. Taking Oakville Transit, Route 14 is recommended.
- If you’re travelling eastbound, you will need to begin your trip 41 minutes earlier in order to reach Union Station at the regular time.
- If you’re travelling westbound, expect to arrive at your destination between seven and 43 minutes later than usual.
Existing early morning and late-night route 18 GO buses will continue to serve Appleby and Bronte GO stations.
Bus connection times for GO bus routes 12, 15 and 18 will also be adjusted.
According to Metrolinx, the construction work that is causing these changes is part of the overhaul of the Drury Lane Pedestrian Bridge in Burlington, and to support the overall increase in GO service.
