A new spot opening soon in Mississauga is part restaurant and part market and meat shop plus a celebration of South African heritage.

Hyperama is slated to open in December at 2110 Dundas St. E. in Mississauga, close to the Etobicoke border.

The South African import is “a unique blend of a diner, butchery, and grocery shop, all inspired by the rich and diverse culinary traditions of South Africa,” according to the website.

Hyperama boasts over 5,000 items from South Africa, more than 200 South African meals from their “world famous diner”, and more than 300 butchery and biltong (dried, cured meat) choices from the Lekker Meat Shop.

The spot invites patrons to “experience the warmth and nostalgia of South African culture.”

The restaurant menu will include iconic South African dishes.

And the market will carry South African spices and ingredients. They plan to stock everything from rooibos tea to Woolies goodies.

“Hyperama aims to be the go-to destination for those seeking authentic South African flavors for their home cooking,” the website notes.

The exact opening date has not yet been announced.
