Some Mississauga and Brampton residents report getting fake Facebook email scam

Residents should be aware of a fake email scam going around, particularly if they use Facebook.

The email in question attempts to disguise itself as a legitimate message from Facebook, notifying you that an unknown person has logged into your account — tempting you to click the “Report user” option.

While it may look genuine at a glance, there are a few subtle spelling and grammatical errors that should tip you off that this is fake.

As with all scams, residents are advised not to click on any suspicious links, as scammers could use them to steal important personal data.
