Some Mississauga and Brampton areas reporting COVID-19 positivity up to 252 per 100,000

Peel Region has identified a number of areas with higher COVID-19 rates in Mississauga and Brampton for the week of Feb. 6 to 12.

The region’s interactive map shows some areas reporting rates of up to 252.0 per 100,000 (area of Cawthra Rd and the QEW to the CN Railway in Mississauga).

Meanwhile, an area in south Brampton is reporting the city’s highest rate of 200.2 per 100,000.

According to Peel, the map shows a crude incidence rate defined as the total number of new cases within a specific time period divided by the total population and multiplied by 100,000.

For the week of Feb. 6 to 12, 426 new cases were reported in Mississauga and 399 were reported in Brampton.

879 new cases were reported for the region overall.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of Feb. 6 was 12.5%, down 0.9% from the previous week, according to Toronto-based research group ICES.
