A man suffered serious injuries last night when his pick up truck collided with a Regional snowplow in Oshawa.

The vehicles, an Orange Dodge RAM and a snowplow, collided shortly before 9 p.m. on January 27 at the Columbus Road and Townline Road in the northeast reaches of the city.

The RAM driver, 51, was driving east on Columbus Road when he failed to stop at a four-way intersection with Grandview Road North. Passing through, he hit a Chevrolet Spark.

According to police, the RAM driver then fled the scene and continued East on Columbus until he reached Townline Road and crashed into a snowplow. He suffered serious injuries as a result and was taken to a Toronto trauma centre.

Police report that alcohol was a factor in the crashes.

The drivers in the Spark and the snowplow were unharmed in the collisions and cooperated with police when they arrived on scene. On arrival, investigators closed down the intersection for several hours, but it has since re-opened.

Anyone with information regarding the crash can call D/Cst. Kollaard of the Collision Investigation Unit at 905-579-1520 (toll free 1-888-579-1520) ext. 5267 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
