Snow in the forecast for southern Ontario this week

Just when it looked like spring had arrived for good, another blast of snow is on its way for southern Ontario.

This is not an April Fool’s joke — a “significant weather outlook” with snow for Wednesday and Thursday is in the forecast this week, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

On Wednesday, five to 15 centimetres of snow is possible in southern Ontario, including the GTA and nearly 20 centimetres for parts of eastern Ontario. On Thursday five to 10 centimetres of snow is possible for eastern Ontario.

After a mainly sunny day today, a wet mix of snow and rain is in the forecast for Wednesday (April 3) and flurries on Thursday in in Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Hamilton and Durham Regions, according to Environment Canada.

Wednesday’s temperature is slated to drop to around 5 C during the day and down to 1 C in the evening.

Thursday will be colder with temperatures dropping even lower, to below zero in some areas of southern Ontario. During the day, it will be closer to 2 or 3 C with periods of snow or rain, according to Environment Canada.

The snow won’t last long in southern Ontario. Temperatures are expected to get up to 11 C with sunny skies on the weekend.
