Smithville woman charged after August collision in West Lincoln

An August 28 collision between an SUV and a motorcycle in West Lincoln has resulted in careless driving charges for a Smithville woman.

Niagara Police charged the 53-year-old woman on Sept. 13 after the collision on Regional Road 20 near Streamside Dr. saw a 59-year-old woman from West Lincoln sent to an out-of-town trauma hospital where she remains in stable condition.

The police’s Collision Reconstruction Unit has been investigating the crash since that time and have charged the Smithville woman with one count of careless driving causing injury. She will now appear at the Welland Provincial Courthouse on Nov. 7.
