Hobby business in Oshawa broken into twice last month

Police are searching for two men after an Oshawa hobby shop in Oshawa was broken into twice last month, with a slingshot-style weapon used to smash the front glass to gain entry in both instances.

The suspects are alleged to have used the weapon to fire a projectile at the front of Great Hobbies on Taunton Road, breaking the glass front door, police said, in the early morning hours of June 17 and again on June 26.

The suspects stole more than $7,000 worth of remote-controlled vehicles before fleeing in a white Honda Odyssey van on June 17.

Nine days later the same two suspects used the same method to break into the business, police allege, stealing more than $3,000 worth of remote-controlled vehicles before fleeing, this time in a black Volkswagen Jetta.

  • The first suspect is described as brown, approximately 6’ and 30-40 years-old with a slim build.
  • The second suspect is also brown, approximately 5’10” and 20-30 years-old with a medium build.

Anyone with cellphone, dash cam, surveillance footage, or any information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Edwards of the East Crime Team at 1-888-579-1520 x 1605.
