Some of the world’s best loved gummies are being recalled over fears that a piece of metal could be imbedded in the candy or be loose in the bag.

The makers of Skittles, Starburst and Life Savers gummies announced the recall and the Canadian government has also jumped on board to spread the word in major centres such as Mississauga, Brampton and Hamilton

Mars Wrigley Confectionery US issued the warning after receiving reports from consumers complaining of finding a “very thin metal strand embedded in the gummies or loose in the bag.”

The company says the products were distributed throughout Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Health Canada warns consumers not to eat the product and throw it away. Store owners are being told to pull the gummies off the shelf and not sell the product.

Mars Wrigley says it is working with retailers to remove the recalled products from store shelves and say consumers with questions can contact them by calling 1-800-651-2564 or by visiting their website.
