Six youths between the ages of 12 and 16 were arrested Tuesday night after allegedly forcing a man into the trunk of a stolen car and engaging in a brief police chase.

A witness called police around 11 p.m. to report they’d seen a man assaulted and forced into the trunk of a white Subaru. Officers responded to Queen Street and found the Subaru.

After a short chase, the car stopped and officers arrested four youths at the scene. Two others ran from the area but were arrested shortly thereafter. DRPS says they seized both the Subaru and an imitation gun from the car.

All six have been charged in connection to the stolen car.

Two of them, a 15-year-old from Scarborough and a 16-year-old from Hamilton, face additional charges of two counts of forcible confinement, assault, pointing a firearm and concealed carry.

The 15-year-old will remain in custody until a bail hearing. The other five have been released with conditions. Their identities are protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
