Five drivers were stopped in various intersections in Brampton last night with some traveling at twice the speed limit.

Firstly Peel Regional Police reported two drivers were stopped at Williams Pkwy. and Mississauga Rd, a busy commercial zone in the city’s southwest. The area’s speed limit is 70 km/h. However, police say the drivers were going 151 and 155 km/h respectively.

Next, police stopped another two drivers at Queen St. and McVean Dr, a busy stretch of road next to the Claireville Conservation Area in the city’s northeast. These drivers were headed through the 80 km/h zone at 132 and 133 km/h.

Finally, two more drivers were stopped at Countryside Dr. and Heart Lake Dr. next to Heart Lake Conservation Area on the northwest side of town. These pair were both stopped at 112 km/h in a 60 zone.

All six of the drivers had their cars impounded for 14 days and their licenses suspended for 30.
