Six people, including suspects from Ajax and Pickering, were arrested during a Sudbury-based drug trafficking bust.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service launched an investigation into a drug trafficking network in August, the service said, in concert with the OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG).

With Durham Regional Police lending a hand, the services raided several homes in Ajax, Sudbury and Toronto on March 29. During these raids, police claim to have found some 2.7 kilograms of cocaine, nearly 300 grams of fentanyl, a loaded nine-millimetre magazine, over $97,000 in Canadian currency and $1000 in counterfeit cash.

They also arrested six people all of whom have been charged with conspiracy to commit an offence and two counts of trafficking with intent to sell including  Paige Lemieux, 27 of Alfred and Lenin Gamarra, 30 of Ajax.

Marlon Gamarra, 28, Stephen Malabre-Partrick, 31, and Donte Brown, 31, all of Ajax also faced additional charges of possession of the magazine and proceeds of crime. Malabre-Patrick also faces a breach of probation charge, while Brown faces six counts of drug trafficking.

Finally, Marcell Gayle, 29 of Pickering, faces seven counts of drug trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and possession of the magazine.

All suspects remain in custody until a bail hearing in Sudbury.
