Special Investigations Unit (SIU) officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting that occurred in Mississauga.

At approximately 2:45 pm (August 13) officers with Peel Police were responding to a weapons-related call at a residential home in the area of White Clover Way and Mavis Road.

Officers witnessed an interaction between a woman and a 29-year-old man. The man allegedly began shooting and injured the woman.

He then man fled on foot and was confronted by police on Sandford Farm Drive. The man managed to escape the officers by stealing and fleeing in a police cruiser. The officers attempted to stop him, and one officer discharged his firearm at the cruiser.

Police claim the man abandoned the cruiser on Idlewilde Crescent, stole a civilian vehicle and fled the scene.

The civilian vehicle was later located by police. While the man has not yet been located, evidence in the cruiser indicates the man may have sustained an injury.
Two investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to this incident.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
