The man jumped into the gorge.

Hamilton Emergency Medical Services were contacted. The man was located on the ground below. After attempts to assist him, he was  pronounced deceased on scene at 3:47 p.m.

The SIU conducts investigations into police activity where someone has been seriously injured, alleges sexual assault or has died.

It is the the second time in less than a week that the SIU has invoked its mandate in Hamilton. On Sept. 29, it took over an investigation after a woman died from her injuries after being in a car that was struck in East Hamilton. Reports suggested that a car that was under investigation by police was involved in a serious collision.
