SIU investigating after woman seriously injured during arrest in Hamilton

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after serious injuries were suffered by a woman arrested by Hamilton police on Friday, October 22.

At 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence on Hilda Avenue, near the intersection of Main Street and Gage Avenue South.

“When police arrived, the woman fled and she was arrested a short distance away,” said the SIU.

“The woman was taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with serious injuries.”

Further details of the incident have not yet been disclosed by Hamilton police or the SIU.
