SIU investigates after Brampton pedestrian struck by police car

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following a serious police-involved collision in Brampton today, Feb. 5.

A collision involving a cruiser and another vehicle took place at approximately 5:22 a.m. at Torbram Road and Williams Parkway.

The driver of the vehicle, a 63 year old male, was transported to hospital and is being treated for serious injuries.

The female officer was also taken to local hospital with serious injuries and later transported to a trauma centre.

Police say their injuries are not life-threatening.

The circumstances of the crash remain unknown at this time.

The SIU has assigned three investigators and two forensic investigators to the case and is asking anyone with information, photos or video footage to contact investigators at 1-800-787-8529 or online.

The SIU is a government agency that investigates police-involved incidents that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
