The province’s police watchdog is investigating the circumstances surrounding the serious injuries of a man who was arrested last night (Sept. 17) in Brampton.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) reports that at approximately 11 p.m. on Friday, Peel police officers arrested a 26 year old man on Kingknoll Drive.

“There was a police interaction. The man was taken to the police station, followed by the hospital,” says the SIU.

He currently remains in hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

No further details surrounding the incident have been shared at this time.

The SIU has assigned two investigators and one forensic investigator to this case, and are urging anyone with further information to contact them at 1-800-787-8529.

The SIU is called in to investigate police-involved incidents in Ontario that result in death, serious injury, assault, or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
