Peel Regional Police have been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) following a complaint by a Mississauga Hospital patient of a broken nose.
The incident occurred March 18 of this year when officers responded to a search for a mental health patient who had left the hospital.
When the male patient was located and returned a struggle ensured when he tried to leave again.
During the struggle the patient’s nose was fractured when his face struck a metal bedrail.
The SIU determined there was insufficient evidence to reasonably believe the officers had conducted themselves unlawfully during the incident.
