A sinkhole that added to the traffic chaos during last Friday’s (March 22) snowstorm will take a month to repair.

The hole was discovered on North Shore Boulevard during rush which added to the headaches drivers were already experiencing when they had to be rerouted around the area.

North Shore Boulevard between Edgewater Crescent and Eagle Drive will remain closed during the work schedule and traffic will continue to be diverted away from the area.

The four-foot-long sinkhole opened open when a culvert failed allowing water to wash away the soil underneath the road.

The repair job, estimated to cost $500,000, will see the replacement of the culvert and repaving of the road.

Access to Burlington Golf & Country Club will remain open through a west-side entrance.
