Single-car crash claims life of young man from Fort Erie: Niagara Police

A young Fort Erie man is dead following a single-car crash in the town Sunday night (May 1st).

Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers, alongside paramedics and firefighters, were called to Bertie Street between Concession Road and Douglas Street in Fort Erie just after 10 p.m. to reports of a crash.

Upon arrival, officers found a black, four-door Infiniti had crashed into a fire hydrant. The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man from Fort Erie, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver’s identity is not being released.

Detectives from the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit are appealing to members of the public who may have been in the area at the time of the collision.

“Residents with CCTV footage that captures Bertie Street, Concession Road, and/or Douglas Street, and motorists who were in the area with an operational dash camera, are encouraged to review their footage,” NRPS said in a news release.
