When Mississauga-born singer-songwriter Alessia Cara performed two live songs on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night (July 19), Niagara Falls was the prominent backdrop for both songs.

During her song “Sweet Dream,” she and her band performed on one of Niagara City Cruises.

During her second song “Shapeshifter”, the backdrop was both the falls and the Niagara Parks’ Oakes Garden Theatre.

Naturally, Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati was thrilled.

“It was incredible to see and hear Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara perform her two newest singles in Niagara Falls last night!”

Cara, who just turned 25 on July 11, was born Alessia Caracciolo before adopting the stage name Cara.

She is the only Canadian to win a Grammy for Best New Artist, a feat she accomplished in 2018.
