Drivers are warned of expected traffic delays on Airport Rd. in Malton today (Sept. 11) as the Nagar Kirtan Parade makes its way through the area.

Peel Regional Police say rolling road closures on Airport Rd. will be present until 6 p.m. while community members of the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Sikh temple celebrate.

Sri Guru Singh Sabha Malton is located at 7280 Airport Rd. within the Khalsa School.

The Nagar Kirtan Parade refers to the procession of Sikh Sangat (congregation) through the town singing holy hymns. The concept of a Nagar Kirtan is to bring the message of God to the doorstep of the community.

The Panj Piare (five beloved ones of the Guru) normally lead the procession of the Nagar Kirtan.

Police encourage motorists to practice caution and patience if driving in the area but use alternative routes wherever possible.
