A Toronto man has been charged with stealing two pickup trucks from two homes in Oakville in the early hours of Wednesday morning (Feb.1).

Halton Regional Police say they received a call at around 1:30 a.m. from an Oakville resident who told them they had just witnessed their pickup truck being driven away in their driveway in the area of Trafalgar Rd. and Lakeshore Rd. E.

The stolen vehicle was located by police, who attempted to stop it as it travelled westbound on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) into Burlington.

The suspect instead continued to drive the vehicle and got off at the Brant Street exit before getting back on the QEW eastbound back towards Oakville.

Police would once again locate the truck at the intersection of Upper Middle Road and Third Line in Oakville. The vehicle was having mechanical issues and, at that time, police were able to arrest the driver.

Further investigation by police revealed the driver was also responsible for the theft of an additional pickup truck the same night (Feb. 1) in the area of Grand Oak Trail and Westoak Trails Boulevard.

Police are still looking for additional suspects.

Toir Bikzad, 28, of Toronto has been charged with the following:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle (2 counts)
  • Possession of Automobile Master Key
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Dangerous Operation
