Shooting threats issued to 6 high schools in Mississauga and Brampton

Threats have been issued against six schools in Mississauga and Brampton claiming someone will “shoot them up” on Friday.

Peel Regional Police learned the threats were circulating online on March 2. The threats posted to social media claimed a gunman would show up at the schools on March 10 to “shoot them up.”

Investigators found the threats had been issued to;

  • Holy Name of Mary Secondary School at 115 Glenvale Blvd, Brampton
  • Louise Arbour Secondary School at 365 Father Tobin Rd, Brampton
  • St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School at 25 Corporation Dr, Brampton
  • Notre Dame Secondary School at 2 Notre Dame Ave, Brampton
  • Chinguacousy Secondary School at 1370 Williams Pkwy, Brampton,
  • Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School at 7640 Anaka Dr, Mississauga

The schools are spread out across Brampton and just over the border into Mississauga. The furthest apart, Ascension and Notre Dame, are within 20 kilometres of each other.

“Police and school administrators from the Dufferin Peel Catholic District and Peel School Boards take the threats seriously and continue working together on safety plans and strategies. Investigators are actively investigating and exhausting all leads to identify the source of this threat,” read a statement from police.

“We understand that the threats made are concerning to students, school staff, administrators, parents and the community at large.  Our Youth and Cyber Support Service investigators are working on identifying those responsible.  The safety and well-being of our schools is extremely important to us,” they continued.
