A shooting in Toronto has led to charges for a Brampton man who police say was caught armed with a handgun.
The Toronto Police Service says the shooting happened on June 23 around 11 p.m. when a suspect opened fire at a person in the area of Martin Grove Road and Finch Avenue West.
No one was hit by any gunfire, and police say the suspect fled the area.
But the police Gun & Gang Task Force says a suspect was identified during the investigation, leading police to the area of Airport Road and Sandalwood Parkway East in Brampton.
That’s where police say a 35-year-old man from Brampton was arrested and charged with multiple offences related to the Toronto shooting.
The suspect had a semi-automatic handgun, a loaded magazine, ammunition and an undisclosed quantity of “controlled substances” in his possession at the time of the arrest, police say.
Toronto police say Rhyan Moore, 35, of Brampton, has been charged with multiple offences including discharge firearm with intent, possess firearm without holding a licence, three counts of possession of a scheduled I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
The accused was scheduled to appear in court in Toronto on Thursday.
