Three outstanding suspects have been arrested in connection to a shooting which allegedly involved an Ajax man.

Gunfire erupted near Kirkham and New Delhi Drives shortly before 4 a.m. on March 10. The commercial zone is home to a large strip mall and a Home Depot. When York Regional Police arrived they found a man suffering from a non-fatal gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital and later released.

Toronto Police helped their York counterparts identify a suspect. On April 25, with backup from the Durham Police Tactical Support Unit, investigators raided the home an Ajax home.

Roshvin Crofton, 22 of Ajax, was charged with several offences including;

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Motor vehicle theft, and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

However, police noted three additional suspects remained at large. In the announcement of Cofton’s arrest, they released a video of the men entering a business in the area but have since deleted it.

Investigators were hoping to get the public’s help to identify the trio. Ultimately this strategy succeeded. On April 29, York Police announced the arrest of three suspects including;

  • Piraveine Kanagalingam, 22 of Toronto
  • Thivyan Suthenthiran, 21 of Toronto
  • Assvin Uthayakumar, 23 of Toronto

Each has been charged with robbery with a firearm and assault. Police did not say whether the men were held until a bail hearing or released with conditions.

Anyone with information about the men’s identities can call police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7541, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
