Shooting outside Hamilton restaurant sends man in his 20s to hospital: Police

Hamilton Police are investigating after a man was shot twice outside of a downtown restaurant overnight.

On Friday (Dec. 17), shortly after midnight, Hamilton Police said they were called to a restaurant on John Street S to reports of a shooting following an altercation.

Upon arrival, police found a man in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers learned that the man was involved in an altercation with several individuals which resulted in the victim being shot two times. Police said that the suspects fled the area on foot.

Hamilton Police told IntheHammer in an email that detectives are still working on, who and how many people were involved in the incident leading up to the shooting.

The scene has since been processed and police are canvassing the area on Friday for any surveillance and witnesses.
