Investigators say one person was hit. While police initially only shared the person had been injured, they later confirmed they had died.

Police have not shared any further details about the victim, nor have they shared a suspect description.

However, they did confirm the person who died appears to be the only victim.

There is now a heavy police presence in the area and motorists are asked to avoid the area. Investigators said they will provide more details when they become available.

Updated 11 p.m.: Police have confirmed the victim was an adult man, but have shared no further details of his identity. Dream Crest Rd. remains closed from Terry Fox Way and Cinnamon Rd. while Alicante Rd. is closed from Blizzard to Dream Crest Rd.

The Peel Police Homicide Unit has taken over the case. Anyone with information about the shooting can call them at 905-453-2121 ex. 3205.

Shortly after the shooting Mayor Bonnie Crombie voiced her concerns about another shooting in the city saying, “I’m extremely concerned that there has been another deadly shooting in Mississauga this week. My thoughts are with all those impacted by this tragic event.”
