Police in Hamilton say several recent incidents targeting a home in an upscale neighbourhood in that city, including a late-night shooting on Tuesday, could have ties to Mississauga and Brampton.
Investigators say a vehicle spotted fleeing from Elodia Court on Hamilton’s west mountain shortly after multiple bullets had struck the garage of a home just a few minutes before midnight last night was reported stolen from Peel in May.
Hamilton Police say they’re now appealing to the public for help in locating the vehicle, described as a black Honda CR-V bearing licence marker DANH 172.
Police said multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired at an Elodia Court home were received just prior to midnight on Tuesday.
“When officers arrived, they located shell casings outside the residence and multiple bullet holes in the garage door,” police said in a news release on Wednesday, adding officers were told that the black Honda was seen speeding away from the neighbourhood.
Investigators said the late-night shooting is the second firearm-related incident in the area in the last several days.
A Mississauga man faces multiple charges following an early Sunday morning incident, also on Elodia Court, in which a stolen car rammed two police cruisers as the driver attempted to flee.
A short time later, following a brief foot chase, police arrested a man and recovered a loaded Glock handgun.
Officers had been called to the area shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday by residents who reported a “suspicious vehicle” parked on the street with its headlights off.
That car, a grey Honda, was also on file with Peel Regional Police as having been stolen in either Mississauga or Brampton, Hamilton Police said on Tuesday.
Investigators are also looking into three other incidents in which the same home on Elodia Court was targeted, police said.
“Police have remained in contact with the occupants of the targeted residence, who have been cooperative with investigators,” Hamilton Police said in Wednesday’s news release, adding they’ll maintain “a visible presence in the area as the investigation continues.”
