There are a few returnees to the second season of Bachelor in Paradise Canada and one of them is probably the biggest fan favourite from the inaugural season.

St. Catharines resident Lisa Mancini, 29, was adored by fans and fellow contestants last season, due mostly to her quirkiness and her straight-shooting manner.

A full-time cosplayer – the art of dressing up as super heroes and attending fan expos or comic cons – is pretty much a unique skill set, though in these heady days of social media, she has impressively made it a profitable one.

Never one to shy away from an opinion, her “plain-splain” style made her TV gold and before we forget, oh yes, she has two pet squirrels. Shy of owning a moose who has a beaver as a best friend, that’s about as Canadian as it gets.

While she was the female break-out star of the first season, the producers brought back the male favourite, lovable Joey Kirchner from Alberta, who set the tone in the first episode of season one by arriving on the pontoon boat wearing a cowboy hat, cowboy boots, a pink Speedo… and nothing else.

Also onboard from season one is Toronto’s Maria Garcia-Sanchez, who arrived late into the game last season and couldn’t reconcile with the fact that everyone was already paired up and she couldn’t beg a date to save her life (in the game, that is.)

With 10 contestants from Ontario, the show starts up May 8 on City-TV and will feature an assortment of Canadian and U.S. Bachelor familiar faces, as well as Bachelor Nation superfans, some 27 in total through the season.

This year’s new host is Ottawa’s Sharleen Joynt while former Bachelor contestant and firefighter Kevin Wendt is back in his role of bartender-confidante.
