Sheridan College has become just the fourth post-secondary institution in Canada to earn a prestigious designation.

The school, with campuses in Oakville, Brampton and Mississauga, has been designated as an Adobe Creative Campus — an accolade that will provide students and staff with even more tools, resources and collaboration opportunities to develop digital literacy and other skills increasingly sought after by today’s employers.

“Sheridan is honoured and thrilled to become part of this prestigious program and advance our commitment to preparing our students for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world,” said Carol Altilia, Sheridan’s provost and vice president, Academic.

“Deepening integration of Adobe’s industry-leading tools and resources in our curriculum and pedagogy will enhance creativity, innovation, critical thinking and digital communication skills across the entire Sheridan community.”

The Adobe Creative Campus program recognizes colleges and universities worldwide that have empowered students in all disciplines with the opportunity to learn skills essential for success in the classroom and beyond.

Sheridan will receive a wide range of supports designed to further embed Adobe tools throughout the institution and create a more dynamic teaching and learning environment.

“Creative thinking and execution skills have never been more important for success in an increasingly inter-connected economy,” said Mark Jones, dean of Sheridan’s Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design.

“Working with Adobe as an Adobe Creative Campus will lead to enhanced opportunities for faculty and students to collectively explore what that means and have access to the tools that accelerate results.”

Some of the ways in which students will benefit from the Adobe Creative Campus designation include the ability to engage more deeply in their learning through the creation of digital stories; develop more persuasive communication skills; participate in events that build career skills; receive on-campus support from Adobe Student Ambassadors; and graduate with visual, audio and storytelling skills that can accelerate time to employment.
